Prof. Rajani Kelkar

Prof. Kelkar completed her Post graduation in Occupational Therapy from Seth G. S. Medical College & KEM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai.

She has worked as Professor and Head, Occupational Therapy School and Training Center, L.T. M. Medical College and General Hospital, Sion. She has been working in the field of occupational therapy for the past 39 years.

Prof. Kelkar has trained more than 2000 gradate and postgraduate students. She has published several scientific papers in Index journals and has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Occupational Therapy. She was also awarded a fellowship by Academic Council of Occupational Therapy in the year 1998.

Dr. Sunil Karande
Professor of Pediatrics & In-Charge Learning Disability Clinic,
Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital


Dr. Karande completed his MBBS and MD (Pediatrics) degrees from the prestigious Seth G. S. Medical College & KEM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai. He has been working in the field of learning disabilities since the past 12 years.

Dr. Karande has published 11 original research papers, 4 review articles and 3 editorials in the field of learning disabilities in Medline-indexed journals. He is an esteemed reviewer of several Medline-indexed journals, at both the national and international levels. He was selected as a Fellow of the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities (IARLD), USA in 2007. He has received the Award of Fellowship of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP) in the year 2009.

Dr. Madhuri Kulkarni
Honorary Senior Pediatrician, Mumbai Port Trust Hospital


Dr. Madhuri Kulkarni superannuated as a Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics,from L.T.M. Medical College & L.T.M. General Hospital, Mumbai in 2008. She completed her medical graduation and post graduation in Pediatrics at Seth G. S. Medical College, Mumbai and began her teaching career as a lecturer in pediatrics at T.N. Medical College and subsequently worked as Associate Professor, Professor, Head of Department, and In-charge Dean at L.T.M. Medical College and General Hospital, Mumbai.

In a career spanning several years, she has delivered many lectures, and presented papers in both national and international conferences. She has also, published many papers in reputed scientific journals. Dr. Kulkarni has been a guide to post-graduate students registered for M. D. and D.N.B. Pediatrics as well as D.C.H. She also has been a member of editorial board and reviewer of publications such as Indian Pediatrics, Indian Journal of Pediatrics, and Pediatric Clinics of India.

Dr. Kulkarni underwent training in ‘Munich Developmental Testing’ and ‘Vojta’s Kinesiology’ to evaluate infants at risk for developmental disorders. In 1992 she was awarded an international scholarship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, USA. She is also trained in pediatric neurology at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. In 2003, she was awarded the Fogarty scholarship in pediatric HIV at the New York School of Medicine. In 2006 she completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Juvenile Justice and Juvenile Jurisprudence, a new course started at the University of Mumbai. She has been one of the first few medical teachers to start training of undergraduate students in WHO-UNICEF IMNCI strategy at its inception in India. At L.T.M.G. Hospital, Dr. Kulkarni started the Early Intervention Clinic for developmentally subnormal children in 1985, the Pediatric Neurology Clinic in 1992, and the Learning Disability Clinic in 1996.

For the past 15 years Dr. Kulkarni has been a founder trustee of the Child Welfare Trust at Bhuj and is a consultant Pediatrician attached to the Dhanvantari School for Special Children run by the Trust.

During her tenure of Chairperson of the Growth, Development and Behavioral Pediatrics Chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics for the years 2008 and 2009 she initiated the process of developing training modules on Growth Monitoring, Developmental Delay, Autism, and Behavioural Problems.

Ms. Neha Chheda
Principal, Shishuvan School


Ms. Neha has completed her B.Com; B.Ed; and an MBA (Fin). She has had a varied work experience including Research Analysis; Administration; and Consultant to the ISA Awards. In her current role as Principal, Shishuvan School she is in charge of Administrative duties; Staff development; Curriculum development; Budget allocations; Assessing and establishing the academic standards; and Interaction with Government bodies to name a few.

Some of her previous experience includes a Basic and Advanced Teacher Training Course at Rudolf Steiner Education at Tridha, Mumbai; a course on Accredition of Schools conducted by the Quality Council of India (NBET); Consultant with British Council for providing support; and in the capacity of a panelist for assessment of action plans and dossiers for the International School Award.

Dr. Nilesh Shah
Professor and Head, Department of Psychiatry, LTMG Hospital


Dr. Shah has an MBBS from Seth G. S. Medical College, Mumbai and a DNB in Psychiatry from the LTMM College, Mumbai. Currently, he is the Professor and Head of Psychiatry and the LTMM College & LTMG Hospital. Prior to this post, he has been the House Officer (Psychiatry) at the Dr. R. N. Cooper Hospital and the KEM Hospital. Dr. Shah has spent over twenty years teaching undergraduate and post graduate medical students and has also taught Nursing to B.Sc Nursing students.

He is an examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons (Parel University), the Psychiatry examinations at the Gujarat University and the Goa University. His work has been published in over ninety national and international journals and books. Some of his research topics include, Lamotrigine in Bipolar Mood Disorder, Risperidone in Acute Manic Episode and as a maintenance therapy for Bipolar Mood Disorder, Atomoxetine in ADHD, and Milnacipram in depression.

Some of the awards to his credit include: Three awards by the Best Paper Awards of Bombay Psychiatry Society; The President’s Award, Indian Psychiatric Society (Western Zonal Branch) – also an honor that he has received three times; The Shantiniketan Award of Association of Industrial Psychiatry; and The Spirit of Mumbai Award for disaster management.

Ms. Rukhshana Sholapurwala
Special Educator to LD Clinic, Seth G.S.Medical College, and KEM Hospital


She has her Master’s Degree in Education. By profession, she is a Special Educator and has gained the experience in the field of special education for almost 3 decades. Ms. Rukhshana is the Special Educator to the LD Clinic at KEM Hospital and DPYA High School. She runs a private clinic for children in need of special care and is also a course coordinator for the Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education at SIES College. She has to her credit many research studies on Learning Disability and her recent study was on the utility of screening tools to identify children with Specific Learning Disability in primary school.

She has written a book on Curriculum Based Test for Educational Evaluation of Learning Disability. This book is an endeavor to help Special Educators to identify children with Learning Disability and is one of its kind as all the presently available tests are foreign based whereas this is based on the Indian Population.

Ms. Salma Prabhu
Executive Director of the Academy for Counseling and Education Pvt. Ltd


Ms. Prabhu has a Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling from the Xavier’s Institute of Comprehensive Education along with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mumbai.

Currently, Ms. Prabhu is the Executive Director of Academy for Counseling and Education Pvt. Ltd., and she has spent a number of years conducting workshops on subjects such as Learning Difficulties, Career Guidance; Aptitude Tests; Effective Parenting; Mind Mapping etc. She has also had the privilege of being invited as Visiting Faculty at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Deonar where her role includes planning of the course; process and skills counseling; identifying placement agencies and conducting various workshops. She is also a Visiting Faculty at the SIES College of Management Studies as well as a Faculty Member at S.I.E.S College of Comprehensive Education. In her many years of work experience, she has also been Counsellor and HR Consultant to Britt Worldwide; HR Consultant to Fugro Survey India Ltd., and has published over 100 articles in national publications.

Ms. Prabhu has released an Audio-CD on Simple Relaxation Techniques and Autosuggestions titled Path to Success and authored booklets on Effective Techniques to Enhance Performance and the Art of Effective Parenting.

Ms. Vanessa D’silva
Clinical Psychologist and Counselor at Mona Remedial Educational Centre


Ms. Vanessa D’silva has completed her Master of Arts with Honors in Clinical Psychology from the SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai in 2003. Prior to that, she has received a Bachelors degree in Sociology / Psychology from the St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She also has a certificate in Counseling for Caregivers from the Sophia Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, Mumbai and has participated in several seminars and workshops such as Mind and Memory; Demystifying Autism Spectrum Disorder; and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

Ms. Vanessa was also a Guest Lecturer for MA (Clinical Psychology) at the LJNJ College, Mumbai in 2009. She is a Co-founder of the 21st Century Achievers, responsible for drawing up academic programs for children from Pre School to Grade Seven in English Language enrichment and Mathematical Skills.

She has also assisted Dr. Chandrawat M.D (Mum), D.P.M (Mum), M.C.P.S., F.I.P.S. along with being a Consulting Psychiatrist at Ek Koshish, assessing patients for psychometric evaluation from August 2004 to February 2005.

She has also worked with ‘All for Kids’, Mumbai from August 2003 to June 2004 where she was responsible for training children in English as a Second Language.
