nasen

nasen is an educational charity and a membership association which supports those who work with children and young people with special and additional educational needs. Members include teachers, teaching assistants, support workers, other educationalists, students and parents.

nasen currently has 7000 members throughout the UK and supports them through policy documents, journals, its magazine Special!, publications, professional development , local branch networks and newsletters. Its Web site contains current information such as responses to government consultations. nasen's published documents are held in very high regard both in the UK and abroad.

nasen represents the voice of its members in a number of national and local forums. They have been influential in their responses to consultations papers and have worked closely with DfES, QCA and many other Government departments to ensure that the voice of special educational needs are heard.

Maharashtra Dyslexia Association

MDA

Maharashtra Dyslexia Association (MDA) is a non-profit body of parents and professionals committed to safeguarding the rights of people with Learning Disabilities to an appropriate education. The MDA works to promote a better understanding of this common but widely misunderstood condition and provide appropriate interventions at micro and macro levels, thus working towards the acceptance of the special needs of children with learning disabilities and enabling them to reach their full potential.

Some of the services offered at our three centres in Mumbai include:

  • Holistic Remedial and Diagnostic services for students and their families at three Resource Centres at Deonar, Parel and Breach Candy. The fee structure is based entirely on the family's ability to pay.
  • The Association works actively with Education department officials at both the State and Municipal levels, to advocate for the recognition of the special needs of students with learning differences.
  • Awareness programmes for schools and the general public all over the country.
  • Regular training programmes for parents, teachers, psychologists and therapists working in the field, conducted by renowned specialists from India and abroad.
  • Consultancy services to schools, colleges and other organizations that wish to provide in-house services for their students.
